security component upgrade for media player not functioning.
Went to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp to try to upgrade and received the following error message: "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while trying to play the file". This makes no sense to me as this is a security update and not an audio file. Overdrive program requires this DRM upgrade for Windows Media Player in order to play copyrighted borrowed material from the library.

Try the following methods and try to upgrade the Security Component Upgrade:
Method 1:
I would suggest you to restart the computer in clean boot mode to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.
Note: After troubleshooting, refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot†to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.
Method 2:
I would suggest you to follow these steps and run the Windows media player settings troubleshooter:
a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.
b. Type “Troubleshoot†without quotes and click on Troubleshooting in the results displayed on the left side of the screen.
c. In the new window, click View all which is towards the left side of the screen.
d. In the list of options, click on Windows media player settings troubleshooter.
e. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Method 3:
I would suggest you to disable or uninstall third party anti-virus software temporarily and then check if the issue persists. Follow these steps to uninstall any third party anti-virus software:
a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)
b. Enter “appwiz.cpl†without quotes in the search box, tap or click Apps, and then tap or click appwiz.cpl.
c. Uninstall any third party anti-virus software.
Note: Running the computer without firewall or the anti-virus software is a potential threat to the computer; make sure to enable the security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the issue.
