What is the "Group Policy Client (gpsvc)" system service on Windows Server 2012? Can I disable "Group Policy Client"?

"Group Policy Client (gpsvc)" is a Windows Server 2012 service that
is responsible for applying settings configured by
administrators for the computer and users through the
Group Policy component. If the service is disabled, the
settings will not be applied and applications and
components will not be manageable through Group Policy.

"Group Policy Client" service is provided by the svchost.exe program, see "svchost.exe Executable Program on Windows Server 2012" for details.
Disabling "Group Policy Client" service should not cause any issues on running Windows 2012 Server. If you are not using the Group Policy to manage system and user settings on the system, you can disable "Group Policy Client" to improve system performance and security.
