What is the "DHCP Client (DHCP)" system service on Windows Server 2008? Can I disable "DHCP Client"?
✍: FYIcenter.com
"DHCP Client (DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)" is a Windows Server 2008 service that registers and updates IP addresses and DNS records for this computer. If this service is stopped, this computer will not receive dynamic IP addresses and DNS updates. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.

"DHCP Client" service is provided by the svchost.exe program, see "svchost.exe Executable Program on Windows Server 2008" for details.
