Sound Audio microphone record recording

I was gifted with new Toshiba L850 from Australia. It was installed with windows8 when I got this.It worked perfectly but now I got a problem.When I was speaking with my friend via skype suddenly he said that he could not hear me,but I was able to hear him.So I checked my microphone(in my PC) with the software 'sound recorder', but when I played it back I heard "zzz..." sound only. I checked my device status and I found that microphone is working properly and my driver software was up to date.when I use an external mic it worked properly.I want to know a solution for my problem

Do you use the headphone supplied with the laptop to chat with your friend in Skype? According to the laptop specification there is no in-built microphone on the laptop. And if the external microphone is working,that means the headphone is not working. If you use the headphone to chat with your phone, then try using it on another computer and check.
