Pixel size, sometimes called image size, or picture resolution, of a picture refers to the number of pixels used to represent the picture in both horizontal and vertical dimensions.
For example, if a camera says it has a 8M (3264x2448) photo resolution, it means that a total of 7,990,272 (8M) pixels arranged in a rectangular of 3,264 pixels in horizontal dimention and 2,448 pixels in vertical dimension is used to store the digital pictures.
In general, larger pixel sizes give more pixels to digitize smaller picture details resulting higher picture resolution.
