With Windows 7, I could change the color of the selected and highlighted items and the search bar. How can I do that in Windows 8? I hate the blue.

You can personalise your colouring scheme by following this: Go to PC Settings (Press Windows Key + I, click Change PC Settings). Now in the left pane, select the Personalize section, switch to Start Screen, then you can see a color bar, from which you can pick your favorite color and the scheme will be applied accordingly.
